The Foundation Skills course consists of four modules. Check out the contents below:

Module 1: Putting The Fun Back Into Training - 10 Lessons

We begin by making training fun! Out with long dreary sessions of drilling, trying to be the stern boss, and constantly repeating yourself.

We'll teach you how dogs learn and show you how to start shaping and changing your dog's behavior without using any force, by helping you teach your dog to hop on a mat to earn some tasty treats. It will be fun for you, too!

Module 2: Getting Your Dog's Attention - 8 lessons

It's a wonderful feeling, having a dog that only has eyes for you! You can have that feeling by training your dog to focus on you and pay attention to you. So if you'd like a dog that says 'please' instead of just grabbing stuff, this is a week you'll love!

As well as expanding your mat games, you'll teach your dog to make and hold eye contact with you, to 'say please', when you have something they want.

Module 3: Telling Your Dog What To Do - 7 Lessons

This is the part where we teach you how to introduce commands, in a way that your dog will be able to understand. We'll show you how to avoid the common mistakes most people make, so that you don't end up with a dog that doesn't listen to anything you say.

You'll 'name' your training mat, and teach your dog the 'watch me' cue.

Module 4: Building Reliable Behaviors - 8 Lessons

This is where we show you how to start progressing the behaviors you want your dog to carry out, and making them more reliable. We'll show you how to add duration and simple distractions, and to help your dog really understand what you want him to do. 

You'll add a nice polite sit to your dog's 'please', and add a release cue to your mat stays, so your dog knows when they can leave - and waits there for a couple of minutes, until you release them!
